WAY TOO LONG

It has been way too long since my last post, but for some reason, it seems like just yesterday I did my last blog entry.

Life is crazy busy, and I have no idea where the last few months have gone. Everyday seems to fly by with little to no productivity, but lots of growth!

My baby is going to be 8 months old this week, and I have finally come to terms with letting the laundry, dishes, or cleaning pile up so that I can spend hours a day laying on the living room floor cooing and laughing with my baby!

Lately:

This last week, Sean had the on call schedule for work. This is the most dreaded week of every 2 1/2 months. I swear he gets his calls and the worst times. We finally were scheduled for a Saturday off together, but he got 2 calls that day and was gone for the majority part of the day.
BUT, we did get to go out to walk the mall with friends, followed by William's very first (and definitly not the last) Baskin Robins trip. I'm hoping he takes after me with a "shelf always empty" for chocolate icecream.
Thanks Erica for explaining to me when I was
young that your stomach has shelves. The top one
is the "junk food" shelf, and it NEVER gets full!
Lately it has been so hard to get Sean out of the house, because all he wants to do is relax when he gets home. But when it is nice, and I've been in the house all day, I just want to go PLAY! Walking the mall was a good compromise. I'm just grateful that his friends talked him into getting out and about!

William got his 5th tooth on Friday, and has his 6th about to come in. It makes me sad to see him teething. I can tell that it is painful. But the kid is a tough one, and he is sure enjoying having the teeth to help him eat anything he can get into his mouth!
He has gotten so big, it is scaring me to death. I don't want him to grow up. I already look back and wonder where the last 8 months have gone, and I know in 16 years I'll be wondering the same thing. At least he'll always be my baby, no matter his age!

Here's a few recent pictures:
Attacking the camera while I was trying to take a picture of his cute Jammies

Playing on the trampoline with Daddy

William can feed himself now.....when he's in the right mood!

He LOVES to play under his excersaucer! It's his favorite "hang out" spot!

Now that's a happy boy! When the tongue comes out, you know he's having a good time!

Playing on the computer with Daddy
(those shoes did not start out there. William took it upon himself
to bring them, one at a time, from the other room!)

Well, there's a short update. I hope that it doesn't take this long to update again. Maybe I'll have to set a goal for every 5 or 10 coupon blog posts I make, I have to do one on here!

Family Time

It's gonna be short, but I wanted to post new pictures of my Boy. He's getting so big I can't believe it

This is the funniest face. And he does it all the time while eating

But he sure does love his rice cereal!

This is the look he gives me every time he's done. He can't understand why he isn't getting anymore!

All clean after sneezing TWICE during dinner and getting rice cereal
EVERYWHERE, including in Mom's hair

He was very polite and placed his foot perfectly for this picture!
But he always sucks on his own toes. Who need the "B" (binky) or thumb when you have toes!?!

I went to get him out of bed the other morning and this was what I saw!

He was very upset that I put him in his highchair and was not feeding him.

So he just ate the strap instead!
Well, that's the update for now. I'm finally off to bed!!!!!
Night all

New Couponing Blog

Head over to what will now be my blog designated to couponing and saving us all some money!

Here's my first post!

"Welcome to "Our Thrifty Ideas Become One!

I am really loving all of the feedback and action I was getting on my other blog!! Everyone is really interested in couponing with the economy the way it is. Also, I have a lot of new mommies out there trying to save some money so they can be home with the baby!

I was getting a little down on how the coupons were taking over my family blog, and so from now on, all coupon related items will be on here.

I know that the name is a little long, but I felt it described exactly what I wanted it to. With the feedback I have been getting, as well as info I get from other sites, I felt as though this should be a blog for all of us. We all have the ideas, and with help from one another, we will all be the thriftiest shoppers ever!!!

So everyone PLEASE, if you have come across any online deals, coupons, or in-store treasures, send me an email and let me know so I can share it with everyone! I know that I get a kick out of saving, and especially from hearing and seeing everyone else have successful saving adventures. So lets not just let me see or hear, share it with everyone!"

Pot Pie

 Pot Pie:
This recipe is taken from the Studio 5 website http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=204&sid=8851434

  • 10 inch double crust pie
  • 2 cups cubed cooked turkey
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion ( i don't use this, because i freeze my pot pie, and I don't like freezing onions)
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
Method:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line bottom of pie pan with crust. In a skillet saute the chopped onion until sligtly soft and set aside.

2. Mix together the turkey or chicken, mixed vegetables, onion, soup and milk. Pour into pie crust, cover with top crust and crimp edges.

3. Slit holes in top crust and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.

If you want to freeze it, make it as described above, but don't bake it. Instead, before putting in the first pie crust (on the bottom) put plastic wrap down (as seen in picture)

and when finished, put it in the freezer for an hour. This will form it to the pie tin you are going to cook it in. After an hour, remove it from the freezer and wrap in tinfoil and then put it in a freezer bag.
Then when you want the pot pit, thaw in the fridge for about 8 hours, and then it is ready for the oven!!

Enjoy!!

Beef Stew

I've had many requests for some of my recent recipes, so I'm gonna post them on here!

Beef Stew:
(kinda a bad picture, cause i took it after half of the stew was eaten!)

This one is REALLY easy
So I just put a bunch of stew meat into a crockpot
cut up celary, carrots, onion, and potatos and placed on top of the meat.
Put in frozen corn and peas.
Then put one bag of onion soup mix, and a can of crm of chicken soup on the top, so as it cooks, it will seep down into the meat and vegis.
Salt and pepper to taste
pour on 3 cups of water (or if you want you can use beef broth, but mine was plenty flavorful with just water).
I did this about 8:30 this morning and put it on low. It was done by around 3ish and I just put it on warm after that!!

Good luck!

Will's Blessing!

Today William was blessed in sacrament meeting. It truly was one of the most amazing experiences. Spiritual moments like that only bring a family closer together. It was hard to not be able to be in close proximity with all the family members there, because you could really feel the spirit radiating from one another.
Sean did the most incredible job. I told myself I was going to be strong and not cry, but Sean's words were so strong and hit just the right spot in my heart, that the tears just started streaming. I know that he was incredibly nervous, considering it is his first extremely public blessing, but you would never have know the nerves were there.
In the past week or so, Sean and I got talking about the typical baby blessings, and what they include. The one thing we kinda laughed about was the showing of the baby. We think it's humerous, because most everyone in attendance has seen the baby before, so why the presentation? Also, if you are one of the unfortunate ones who showed up on time, instead of early, you most likely are far in the back of the chapel and can't even see the tiny baby. Sean had a BRILLIANT idea to solve this. He informed me that if he had to "show the baby" he was going to walk around the entire chapel holding him out for everyone to see! hahaha. I asked him politely to NOT show the baby after the blessing. So you can probably imagine my reaction, when the blessing was finished and everyone started to walk back to their seat, except Sean. He stood up in the front and proudly held this son high in the air. Much to my relief, he quickly pulled him back to a cuddle and returned to his seat. I was informed shortly after, that his Dad had told him he needed to "show the baby"! Whew, what a relief I didn't have the embarassment of him parading my child around the chapel!
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Bill's house after church. It was great to socialize with everyone, but I wish that more could have made it. There were people who were definitely missed and were in our thoughts the whole afternoon.
Sean and I want to thank everyone who participated in the blessing, who were there to show their support, and especially my Dad who got up in sacrament meeting and bore his testimony. It is great to grow up in the church and to know what your parents believe. To hear it on a day like today, spoken loud and proud, was a great blessing. He bore his testimony of eternal families, and his love for all of his family. I don't know about everyone else, but he brought me to tears for the second time today!
Again, we can't thank everyone enough for their support and help in making today possible. We couldn't have done it, nor would it have been as special without the love and support of our friends and family.

Here are just a few pictures:

Everyone has funny faces in this picture! haha, Love my Plato's family

A LOT to catch up on

So it really has not been that long since my last post, but it seems like so much has happened! Here's an update.

Thanksgiving was a blast. We spent the day down at my Family's house in Pleasant Grove. My brother had just gotten home the friday before, so it was a wonderful experience to have everyone together again for the first time since April. My sister and her family had 2 Thanksgiving dinners to go to, so we ended up eating ours around 1pm. I think that this is the perfect time for dinner, because then you have the remander of the day to pick at the leftovers! Here are some pictures of Thanksgiving day!

Sean and Will taking their afternoon nap (even though i believe this was taken at about 11 am!)

Nobody tell my dad this is up. He told me to delete it after seeing his face, but I just couldn't resist!

Such a CUTE sleeping baby

Hendrix loves playing with the baby toys!

Hanging out with Papa Stan!

Relaxing on Grandpa!

I think he was trying to hide from us!

Yet another nap time, and outfit. Wow, after looking at the pictures, I realized that he wore a lot of different outfits that day.

After hanging out at my parents house until about 8pm, we headed over to my sister's so that Sean could look at their broken furnace. We need to realize that this is never a good idea, because we can't ever get out of there quickly. We ended up leaving their house just after midnight, still with an hour drive home.
To top all of that off, Sean decided he wanted to go black friday shopping. Yup, that's right....at 4:30 am. So, after only 2 hours of sleep, we headed out for the madness.

This is Will just before leaving...doesn't he look excited to be awake!

We hit walmart first, but after walking in the doors, turned right around and walked back out. It's a good thing my brother-in-law was going there too, cause he picked me up my $13 crockpot that I wanted! So then we headed over to Home Depot. When we got there, we were the 8th, 9th, and 10th people in line (yes, i'm counting Will as a person). But it was FREEZING. So after waiting in line for about 15 minutes, we realized it wasn't that busy, and we could wait in the car!

Will was so glad we were back in the warm truck, where he could enjoy his food!

After feeding Will I realized that the line was getting longer and longer. So I grabbed my coat (cause I was the only SMART one to bring a coat, SEAN) and headed back for the line. I stood out there for about 25 minutes before Sean and Will came to join me, and 5 minutes later, the doors were opened.
Apparently everyone else in line (the like 300 people) were there for the same thing as us. Vacuums. Yes, you heard me, a vacuum. Who knew there would be a stampede over a small shop-vac. But apparently it was a great deal, and we bought one for my brother-in-law in return for my crockpot!
After our wonderful shopping trip, we headed back home for sleep....At least Sean did. After all the excitedment, Will wasn't tired, and was up the rest of the morning. What a LONG day!

Earlier last week I went to the Festival of Trees with my Brother and Will. Here's just a few pictures from it.

I put him in his carseat not realizing I had covered his face. He started screaming to let me know that he couldn't see!

My favorite tree. It was full of Scrapbooking supplies

Such a cute sleeping face!

Well, that's all for this post. Got some more for the next however! Such a busy life we lead!!
